About the Program
The Conservatory of İstanbul Nişantaşı University aims to train artists who both embrace the values of tradition and create work that meets the demands of contemporary life. In its Music and Performing Arts (Acting) departments, it cultivates technically equipped artists with creative and original thinking, a developed aesthetic awareness, the ability to collaborate across disciplines, a commitment to ethical values, and an innovative, liberal outlook.
Its educational approach is built on a balanced harmony between tradition and modernity. Delivered by accomplished, expert instructors, the programs aim to develop students into self-confident individuals who are recognized in the national and international music and performing-arts world, who stand out through their distinctive work, and who can lead within society.
The Conservatory places the stage at the center of its education. From the very first year, students gain professional performance experience; through national and international concerts, theatre projects, workshops and events, they build their self-confidence and prepare for professional life. The rich artistic opportunities offered by İstanbul are embraced as a key advantage that nurtures this experience.
Through ties established with industry professionals, inter-institutional internships and joint programs, students encounter the real conditions of the sector early on. They thus graduate as artists who create rather than imitate, and who pursue their profession with an ethical awareness and dignity.
Career Fields
Our Conservatory offers education in two departments: Music and Performing Arts (Acting). Both departments prioritize training professional artists and offer their graduates a broad range of career fields.
- MusicThe primary goal of the Music Department is to train professional artists. It cultivates artists who are recognized in the national and international music community, who stand out through their distinctive work, and who can lead within society. Graduates can work in many fields: as academics at national and international universities, as artists in orchestras and ensembles affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, and as artists, music producers, directors, music consultants and music critics in private and state radio and television institutions.
- Performing Arts (Acting)The Performing Arts (Acting) Department brings its students onto the stage under professional conditions from the very first year and, guided by industry professionals, introduces them to theatre, television, cinema and digital-media productions. Graduate actors can work in subsidized institutions such as the State Theatres, City Theatres and Municipal Theatres or in private theatres, found their own theatres, and work as instructors and voice-over artists at various institutions.
About the Courses
In the Music Department, students are trained through a curriculum that builds academic competence via interdisciplinary courses supporting national and international study and research. Stage-oriented work is reinforced through one-to-one and group practice; through national and international concert events, students acquire stage skills and self-confidence and are prepared for professional life.
In the Performing Arts (Acting) Department, the actor candidate is equipped over four years in movement, breath, voice, diction and phonetics, and works on the complementary fields a modern actor needs through dance and singing classes. Basic and advanced acting techniques and on-camera acting systems are studied practically with master artists, and interdisciplinary performance work is carried out.
Theoretical courses also hold an important place throughout the education. Theory courses such as theatre aesthetics, theatre theory, theatre history and dramaturgy combine with contemporary academic knowledge of classical and modern acting approaches, aiming to turn into an aesthetic awareness. In this way, students develop into artists who apply the knowledge they gain in the field and who create rather than imitate.
