About the Faculty

Istanbul Nişantaşı University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture comprises 10 undergraduate programs across 8 main academic departments. Of these, the Turkish-medium departments began teaching in the 2013-2014 academic year and the English-medium ones in 2015-2016. In our era, possessing technical competence alone is no longer enough; whatever one's professional discipline, cultural depth, an aesthetic sensibility and engagement with art and the social environment have become essential to being an individual and producing work that benefits society.

As mastering different languages, expressing oneself, keeping up with developments and communicating in international settings have become highly important, our curricula place an emphasis on English-medium education. In addition, our students spend one semester of their final year in industry, turning the theoretical engineering knowledge they have gained at the faculty into practice. The Nişantaşı University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture is your window opening onto the world.

Career Fields

The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture offers eight undergraduate departments that bring together the core disciplines of engineering and design with a human-centered, environmentally conscious approach. Spanning software and computer technologies, electrical-electronics and mechatronics, industrial and civil engineering, and architecture, our programs unite theoretical knowledge with projects and practice to prepare students for the real needs of industry.

  • Software EngineeringStudents gain knowledge and skills in basic and advanced programming, software requirements analysis, software design and architecture, data structures and algorithms, information systems and data security, and software project management. Graduates can work across a broad range of roles as system analysts, design engineers, application programmers and information-technology specialists.
  • Computer EngineeringComputer engineering is a field that develops computer systems through theoretical study and produces related technology. The department is designed to train expert engineers with strong problem-solving, research and communication skills and an aptitude for teamwork.
  • Electrical-Electronics EngineeringIts main sub-fields include systems and control, robotics and intelligent systems, circuit electronics, electromagnetic fields and waves, communication systems, signal processing and power systems. Within each sub-field, techniques for the design, analysis, optimization and production of the electrical components of systems are addressed.
  • Mechatronics EngineeringMechatronics is an engineering discipline that integrates mechanical, electrical-electronics and computer software technologies within a single machine or product. It brings these disciplines together to design and manufacture intelligent machines and ergonomic, useful products.
  • Industrial EngineeringIndustrial engineering is a multidisciplinary field concerned with the design, production, management and continuous improvement of integrated systems composed of limited resources such as people, machines, materials, information, energy and finance. It aims to increase process productivity and provide a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Civil EngineeringThe department offers high-quality education in the core fields of civil engineering such as structures, geotechnics, construction materials, hydraulics and transportation. It aims to elevate students' research, design, planning and implementation abilities.
  • ArchitectureArchitecture provides in-depth education in four core areas: architectural design and building knowledge, history of architecture, physical environment control and building technologies, and project and construction management. Each semester, students prepare for professional practice by producing projects of varying scale and function in studios and laboratories.
  • Mechanical EngineeringMechanical Engineering, one of our faculty's English-medium undergraduate programs, offers education in the core disciplines of engineering design and production, preparing students for contemporary engineering practice.

About the Courses

The curricula of our departments are built from courses containing knowledge applicable at every stage of working life. In the engineering departments, students are offered compulsory courses such as basic and advanced programming, mathematics and algorithms, software design, data structures, operating systems and data security, along with electives in areas such as mobile and web application development, data mining and artificial intelligence.

In architecture and design-oriented courses, topics such as basic design, computer-aided design, building knowledge, construction knowledge, architectural technology, architectural design, building materials, architectural projects, surveying, and conservation and restoration are covered. In addition to these, a large number of electives addressing specific subjects are offered to students.

Thanks to flexible curricula, students take part of their courses on a project basis and gain interdisciplinary perspectives through departmental and inter-departmental electives. Courses within the General Education Program and the Career Education and Industrial and Professional Development Program, together with the final-year Workplace-Based Professional Practice (IMU), prepare students for real life and their careers.
